When it comes to having a day or night out with your dog, it’s important to double check which establishments are dog-friendly. Finding dog-friendly restaurants in San Francisco is not just about finding a place that has a section for dogs to sit. You also want to make sure your dog can enjoy their time when they’re out with you! We recommend double checking to see if the shops and restaurants you want to visit are dog-friendly; if their website doesn’t specify, try calling them to ask.

Best practices for dining out with your dog:

  • Avoid bringing your dog to crowded and busy establishments, even if they are dog-friendly restaurants because a chaotic environment could be stressful for your dog.

  • Keep your dog leashed unless you have explicit permission to unleash them.

  • Your dog needs to be consistently well-behaved around both people and other dogs.

There’s no doubt that San Francisco is one of the greatest foodie capitals of the country, and all of the dog-friendly restaurants in San Francisco only add to this claim. Most have great outdoor seating areas for pets and their owners, and a select few even allow dogs indoors. Check out a few of our favorites below!

Dog Friendly Eateries In San Francisco

Tornado Pub

Beer lovers don’t want to miss out on Toronado Pub. They specialize in local California beer and have 45 rotating beers on tap. Dogs are allowed indoors, but this is a popular place so we recommend visiting with your dog on weekday nights or weekend days to avoid scary crowds.

Old Bus Tavern

Old Bus Tavern is a great spot for happy hour, late brunch, dinner, or just drinks out with your friends—four-legged or not. You can expect to enjoy delicious American fair, a rotation of local craft beers, and seasonally fresh cocktails—all while sitting next to your pup in the outdoor seating.

LeCupboard Cafe

If you’re looking for bright and beautiful plant-based food, be sure to check out LeCupboard. Stop by for vegan breakfast, lunch, or brunch, all week long. Or, just order a great cup of coffee with non-dairy options. Your beloved pup will enjoy the sun with you in their dog-friendly, outdoor seating area.

Skool

Skool offers a selection of colorful Asian fusion dishes for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Chill with your furry best friend on their dog-friendly patio. Your pup may even be able to help you get a special little deal for your meal! The servers at Skool are especially welcoming to any doggy guests and will provide a small mat and water for your dog.

Beretta

Get your Italian fix at Beretta, which offers a cozy outdoor seating area for you and your dog. Even on a chilly day, the heat lamps will keep you warm as you enjoy your meal. Beretta prides themselves in having a little something for everyone. The atmosphere is great for both intimate and large group affairs, and their menu offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, as well.
